That cleared up the confusion, I don't want another Samco vs Roose debate because for me there is no difference between the two as they both perform the same job.
There is now a true viable alternative so it's a case of pays your money and take your choice folks
5 month lead time on Samco's - mmmmm - yet more FUD... Yes a long time ago there was a long lead time related to some 3B hoses - or maybe it was the first water kits with some reworking on tools to get things right. All tooling for Samco hoses on 3B, ABY & ADU - boost and water is in place...
Lead time on orders with Samco is typically 4-6 weeks cos guess what - they nor I can afford to carry stock - everything is made to order. Sometimes on very large orders it can run to 8 weeks. I have never hidden this from anyone and always made it clear on the need for prepayment. Occasionally I'll take a gamble on some extra sets in popular colours but thats all.
I still think the Nomex layer is a bit of marketing hype but OK - its a free country... The flouroliner is more important for oil resilience as otherwise the silicone just perishes over time. You pays your money, takes your choice etc etc.
I'm not trying to pour cold water on Roose here - they can make hoses for the space shuttle for all I care - but I don't want any silly rumours and misperceptions to get confused with the facts wrt the Samco S2/RS2 items that have been in play for a long time already.
Paul. I think you are getting the wrong end of the stick here.
Samco are obviously the leader in technology for silicone hoses and their products are known and rated highly around the world.
What i am offering you members is another avenue to go down. If you want quality hoses with a lead time of 24-48hrs then consider Roose Motorsport. If not then buy samco's.
Your right about oil perishing the hose, that is why we put flurosilicone liners in all our breather hoses.
OK, let's cut to the chase. To replace both air and water hoses is gonna cost us punters 500 of our hard earned pounds!
So, before we do that, there seem to be three issues here, of which two we fully understand, price and delivery time. The thrid seems to concern the contruction in terms of both layers and materials, which I atleast do not understand.
Therefore, at the risk of getting caught between a war of words, but for the good of the other simpletons out there (although it could just be me )......What are the guarantees offered by the various manufacturers in terms of: -
1. Replacement due to heat/oil damage/fatigue etc
2. Replacement due to poor fit (therefore rubbing on standard OEM parts)
3. Duration of above guarantee/waranty?
4. Anything else you care to mention?
Cheers n
Si
There will be no damage from heat or oil to Roose Motorsport hoses because they are constructed to eliminate these problems.
Replacement because of a poor fit. Roose Motorsport hoses are cloned from original O E hoses so that won't happen.
If for some reason a fault occurs with a hose and it is a manufacturing problem then we will exchange it within 48hrs.
i must say and this is all a matter of opinion but is shared with a few of my friends.
the samco wait is not acceptable in todays society and thats why a lot more people dont use them. yes they are good as are most hoses but to wait 2 months for a hose set is beyond belief. even for coupler you wait upto 2 months.
samco need to get there act together on this. although in the past they had more or less cornered the market so why rush yourself when there is nowhere else to go. well now there is.
Thats only one hose and with generic parts, which would be fine but i'd prefer a proper set. Only a matter of time before all the other hoses need replacing too.
I will be interested in doing them after i have completed the ABY & ADU hose kits.
I'm only intersted in the complete set of Audi OE Induction, coolant, ancillary and breather hoses to copy. I don't want to do half a kit.
Regards Paul.
Righty, I seem to have won this one - anyone want to tell me how much of a ******* job it is to pull all the hoses out? I'll be dismantling ALL of the hoses... Turbo/Induction included.
