How to check Forge 006 dv for leaks...?

Hi guys, is it as simple as this...?

got a spare maf hose and bunged everything... except the dv pipe, inserted dv and pressurised to 1.4 bar (standing well back!)

I have nothing attached to the small vacuum line pipe or the bottom of the dv, is this the best way to test it, if so, I have a leak, as it wont hold 1 bar of pressure.

    Cheers

    James

Make sure the small vac hose is at the same pressure as this would be the case during operation. Depends what the spring is rated to, if it leaks then it'll leak at a lower pressure I would have thought.

I think mine's a yellow spring, 1.7bar? Best check the website... linky 10-12 PSI so will only hold 0.7 bar before the spring moves.

              James, no probs

It shouldn't leak nip, just get a proper DV and ebay off your old one. There are plenty of servicable DVs that don't leak out there!

You need to apply pressure at the small vacuum pipe as well. This helps to keep the valve shut. Even if you have a 1.7 bar spring in, then the valve will creep open unless you have pressure on the small vaccum pipe. This is the way it functions in the car as well.

Also I have experience that the Forge 006 valve leaks through the bolts that holds the upper and lower part together. You to use some gastape on the bolts to keep it air thight

there is a difference between leaking on the outside or within the DV itself.
Mine never leaked from the screws, but from one of the tubes(the one that also use to be screwed and glued on the main body.New one seems more robust.
Last time i checked for leaks on the DV was with pressurising the tube itself and i cannot remember what i did with the small hose.I believe that pressure testing those tubes...

No idea but my first Forge leaked and I've not heard great things after that. There are a few other makes such as Turbosmart to look at.
