    RS2 project compression

    hello at all

the original 9,3 :1 compression of our 3b cars...whem we put the RS2 parts project in it the compression go more up??? like 10:1 or more??? it´s very dangerous for the RS2 head gasket???

i had finished my RS2 project with a lot of photos the last tuesday and after around 30 or 40 kms without no rally-compettion driving style this evening i´ve " hurts my engine" because i am running for the mometn with ONLY 3 CYLINDERS¡¡

i am returning of my mechanical friend and after test the injector.coils etc etc... we had saw that i have "0" compression in both cylinders¡¡.. and we are thinking that tomorrow morning re-open again ALL the HEAD for test and wacht wich was the problems¡¡

i had rebuilt all the head with all gaskets, valves close perfet..pistons and cylinders was in very good condition...

i have a lot of bad luck.....

the compression in the other cylinders at the moment were "around 10:1" or a bit more...

this is very higher compression for work with the RS2 turbo boosting at 1,5-2,0 bar" maybe the the head gasket had a bit factory problem...

of course all the head was machined

my specs at the mometn are just this and surelly next week i will open my thread project with all the photos and explanations inside

    - RS2 k24 7200 NEW
    -wagner RS2 EVO em
-ecu with RS2 specs + 3 bar map sensor that´s starting full boost at 3500rpm and that can reach 2´0 bar boost in 4ª and 5ª gear

    - 7A exhaust camshaft
-76mm downpipe thanks at the Jonas group buy + home made 76mm straigh exhaust without cats and intermediate silencer only saving the last silencer
    -green injector from RS2
    - 7A fuel pressure regulator
    - 2.3 190 mercedes benz bosch fuel pump
    -spec stage 3 clutch

i need help partners i am most unlucky man in the world in this moments...

    Eh????????????

The Metal head gasket is thicker than the paper gasket so the compression value goes down!?

It's reported at 9:1 but has been measured closer to 8.8:1

Your problem is you had the head skimmed far to much, you needed to either use a head spacer or a 034 compression dropping gasket.

So how have you increased compression? Have you had you head skimmed too much?

It's reported at 9:1 but has been measured closer to 8.8:1
      thanks Jamo

hmm we had think just the same as you about "skimmed" the head... but unlucly i am not sure if the firts owner of my car skimmed the head more...because ITS TOTALLY SURE that my engine was opened in the past

in this case... my 3 working cylinders are BAD because they have 10:1 or more compression???

a lot of skimmed head go to up the compression a lot true??

      S H I T ¡¡¡

      Sorry

Well no, if you've done a compression test on the cyclinders individually that doesn't actually measure the compression ratio of the engine.

On a compression test I would expect to see higher values like 14 on each cyclinder.

If 2 cyclinders are giving 0 compression then I think something is seriously wrong.

14 on each cylinder individually it´s fine... OK

but it´s 100% sure that both my non working cylinders have 0

PD: i have to say that in the moment of the rebuilt all the head, and take the motor block out for mount spec stage 3 and rs2 rod bearings...all of 5 pistons,cylinders,valves...ALL seems in very good condition

only i had fun 30 or 40 kms with my 3b upgraded with RS2 specs

tomorrow morning (sunday) must be the day for discover the problems...

thank you very much again Jamo for your info and help

            Compression test

The 14 sounds high, values should be between 9 and 11. links:

Ouch Tom! Sure that the last owner was a man without interest in his old car.
Different electrofan, one new piston, broken hidraulic pump...

Sure that your head was skimmed...
Can you put 2 gaskets in there to low teh compresion?

I didn't know you had gone so far with your RS2 upgrading. I am so sorry to read that you had this problem. You are lucky to have the spare block. I will send you tons of good luck for your 26th birthday and I hope to read you back soon saying that your car is running again.

                              thanks Javispa¡

i have to say too that i was wrong whem said motor block "holed"

the part with the big hole between cylinders it´s the HEAD.

as i can read here about good compressions...i think that they are not bad because in my 3 perfect condition cylinders +metal head gasket the compressions were

                              - 10,2 in the middle cylinder
                              -11
                              -11

maybe my friend and me we are thinking that the problem with the head+metal head gasket + motor block was the bit bad imperfect condition of the motor block plane because as you can read here

i´ve smoked my head gasket and then we repaired all (metal head gasket+ all head gaskets, head machined -0´2)

motor block seems in very good condition (sure for stock 220hp or 300hp maybe yes)

but unlucky not for 2´0 bar boost with k24 7200

my 26th birthday for today it´s a sad day for me

                              * i have other complete engine in spare in good working condition... we will try to mount it directly excep the 7A exhaust camsahaft.

i wish to know if i will have again the same problem with all my specs but.... i am some scared...

did someone here with RS2 specs boosting between 1,5-2.0bar with k24 7200 had a problem like me??? and if it´s not.... can anyone tell me wich are the compressions running well??

                              9:1???
                              10:? more??

                              less???
