The main problem with original Bosch DV's is that they don't like to much heat. So the rubber diaphragms on them can split and melt etc.

If your going to be running 1.7bar then its likely that a normal DV will not last to long.

You have a few options before relocating the DV to after the intercooler.

First off you could buy a better/ stronger DV that has not got a rubber diaphragm and uses only metal components , such as Turbosmart, Forge, GFb etc. These will not ware out and can easily hold your 1.7bar.

The next option would be to fit a blow off valve of similar quality as the ones mentioned above. This would also hold your boost and then dump it to atmosphere. The reason that this is not usually done is that the MAF has already calculated for the air that your dumping and that results in very slight overfueling until the ECU can adjust. However its not a big issue, lots of people have still done it and they have no problems.

Apart from that you could T in to the pipe that connects the intercooler to the throttle body somewhere with a DV. you could then use the stock connections on your MAF to turbo hoses and would only need to bung up the Turbo to IC hose, you would also need some 22mm pipe to connect the newly located DV to the MAF/Turbo hoses.

      HTH.

There is nothing wrong with sending hot air to the turbo inlet via the stranded connections. Even if your valve dumps air at say 170 degrease then by the time its vented back in to the inlet track it mixes with all the other air at ambient temperature so when its meats the turbos cold side it will make very little difference.

Also remember that the cold side of the turbo i.e. the side that's forcing air in to the engine is already going to be very hot as the hot side is attached directly to it and this is what heats the air up in the first place.

If your only concerned about venting back hot air then i would definitely not bother to relocate the DV.

            just my two cents

As I've said before it's not an issue unless it's a high powered car even then only if your using a standard bosch DV.

If you do want to do it on an S2 then connect the DV to the inlet pipe running above the exhaust manifold

Ask somebody to translate it for you 'cause you won't get it easier/clearer than this mate.
You'v got an explicit explanation on how, why an when to do it.

                                Translation:

                                Cheers!
