    Advise needed sump removal

    Hi all

I am in the process of changing my rods for some scat rods I have removed the subframe & all the fixing from the sump & double check that they are all removed.

The problem i have is the back of the sump seems to still be fixed to the gear box end i have levered it at the front & it seal is broken but it is still hang on at the back.

I had to remove the heads of two bolts, the sump is free and moving in the area of the bolts with out heads, but they will stop the sump moving forward.

Are there any pins or any thing other that could be holding if firm at that end.

Dose anyone have a picture of a RS2 sump off that would show me what could be holding it or what it looks like.

    Regards Jade

In UrS4 there are 2 sump bolts that are accessible through gearbox casing.
All quattro products have been dermatologically tested, and are safe for daily use.

gedu says youll need to loosen the two bolts between the engine and flywheel, theres a special tool for it or just alon allen key.

I have checked, On the gearbox side of the sump there are 4 bolts which fasten the sump to spacer & gearbox, Can't see anything else that could be holding it.

          Ideas Please

              it

can be loosened with gearbox inside yes, its like most audi trannys, there are two holes underneath when you look straight up where gearbox and engine comes togheter, this is where the bolts are, may have to turn engine over to get to the bolts.

Also search for a thread by S2central.net on sump removal. I'm betting you haven't removed the 2 bolts that go into the rear crank seal.

If you can imagine where the crank rear oil seal is there are two Allen head bolts either side. You will see two round holes in the back flange of the sump the bolts are about 100mm (4") up them.

Easy to miss and it sounds like you may of. Shine a torch up and have a look.

                  Hope it helps.
