For those removing the Air Con...

There's a bloomin' big hole (20mm diameter or so) behind the compressor bracket that attaches to the block. When I originally removed the A/C I din't realise it was there, left off the bracket and got oil everywhere when I was driving first off! Replaced it, fitted some shorter bolts and thought all was well. Upon re-inspection (1 year later) it was leaking! Had a look and there's an O ring in there, mine's tired and I think the bolts were bottoming out too . Have cleaned and replaced it all and fitted a washer on each bolt, will get a new O ring if thata dosn't solve it

My car has been losing oil for ages and I thought it might be the HG that I replaced (I was also loosing water!). Water turned out to be the after run pump that exploided in my face a few months ago, if this solves the oil habit then I'll be well pleased! Might also have explained why I wasn't getting much oil in my catch tank.

Gotta love these old beasts (mine wouldn't start this morning, recurring crank hall sensor problem!)

Aye, it was the fact that it was STILL leaking after refitting it. D'oh!

The hole is for the turbo oil return on non-A/c cars. A/C versions return to the top of the sump extension.

Andy, try a new o-ring and some Loctite on the bolts.

Yeah, that's the plan... have some loctite sealant for sumps somewhere but it's not where I thunk it were like. D'oh! Will see if it still leaks and repeat maintenance untill satisfied.

At least it's easy to get at with the A/C removed. A/C is a nightmare for cluttering up the engine bay. I'm still going to keep mine if I can though.

Yeah, mine's great to work on that side now it's gone, it's rarely hot enough here but over in Germany it'd be nice

Black leather in mine has the same sort of effect. I should strip it out then the white will reflect the rays and I'll get a healthy tan
