    Choosing my next turbo...

As i stay here in holidays having free time and making thoughts,i wanted to see were i could go next.SO having tried the garrett turbos and being satisfied with them i cannot say however that i was impressed.

I have been looking at several other options. These are to be combined to the RS2 EVO turbo at least initially due to lack of time to make a proper tubular manifold, and besides i may not need to make one in the end,but if there need be i will be modifing the engine bay to fit them unless Carsten has something SQish to offer in the given time.

    My new options then are:

    1) Comp turbo CT358 which has:

Compressor is 58mm inducer 74.5 exducer
Turbine wheel stage 5 major 74.5 exducer 58mm

and can be made to have oil+water feed

    2) Borg warner S256

    Turbocharger Name - S256
    Compressor Wheel Inducer - 56mm
    Compressor Wheel Exducer - 80mm
    Compressor Wheel Trim - 49
    Turbine Wheel Inducer - 69.5mm
    Turbine Wheel Exducer - 61.5mm

    3) Borg warner S258

    Turbocharger Name - S258
    Compressor Wheel Inducer - 58mm
    Compressor Wheel Exducer - 80mm
    Compressor Wheel Trim - 53
    Turbine Wheel Inducer - 74mm
    Turbine Wheel Exducer - 64mm
    Turbine Wheel Trim - 75

The 2 borg warner turbos are oil cooled only and apparently are quite sofisticated as far as wheel technology is concerned. They seem to have good spooling times and they are thrust bearing turbos not ball bearings.Same goes for the CT turbo that also has the option to become ball bearing, but that increaces the price to $1500+.

All of them cost from $1000 to $1200 without shipping and possibly flanges to go with.

The way i see it the CT turbo seems to have smaller turbine wheel diameter which would spool slightly faster and from repo's comments these turbos are very efficient.
The borg warner units seem nice but i have no idea where they would spool in our cars.

I plan to use these with VEMS,ported head, stronger valve springs and PKmotorsport cams(working from 3500rpm to 7500rpm)

Plan is to reach 500hp crank with an easy boost level of no more than 1.8bar steady boost. If it is reachable with less boost im even happier!
Also i would like to spool no later than 4000rpm on 3d gear and up.I dont care about 2nd and 1st gear at all.If i get full boost on 3d gear @ 4000-4200rpm then the rest of the gears will be sooner so thats good.

Just a thought, have you had Mihnea map your car yet? I had a go in a coupe mapped by him with RS2 engine and 3071 and it was very quick, I'm guessing pretty close to 500hp

it would be an idea to do that, but since i will be going on VEMS,i dont know if i would be satisfied to run new map just to get a few extra hp.It is pretty fast as it is,no doubt, but i want to get rid of the MAF and also get a ported head and cams in there.

I have mentioned to MRC if i could send them the map files to have a look, but never got a responce.

next time we meet ill take yuo for a spin. i run a precision sc6152 for reference. you can get an idea then of lag and power at a given boost level.

and you can see the vems then too.

can you write the specs of that turbo?

also, does anyone know for a fact if the KKK K27 hotside flange is the same as T3?
Also where can one buy KKK hotsides from the UK?
There might be a 4th option with the holset turbo, somewhat similar specs as the above turbos.

              define 'opened'??

Also i had a link to a US shop that had all different kinds of hotsides to offer, but now i cannot find it!

Reading through im a little puzzled as to which would be best,a K26 #8 or a K27 #7. If the K26 is better, then it is likely to go for the K26 EVO RS2 manifold, but if i go to the K27 then i would opt for the T3 flange and use an adaptor

I bought a turbo and it´s broken, the oil pass between.
Now is opened because no are pieces. And finally I just put a new turbo.

The 2 hand turbo is only to "ñapear" but if anyperson want it to hibridate...

PS: I don´t want "my" turbo to anything

i have a GT3071R now,not an RS2 turbo.I may end up with a holset turbo shortly and i want to see how i can make a hubrid out of it,with a KKK or a garrett hotside.

personally id go t3 hotside with a tubular. minimise egt where possible.

i run a 0.63 stage 5 hotside. e spec cold side. yuo can opt for the s spec but i chose not to.

With K27 #7 full boost comes around 4000rpm. I know a guy who used it with SQ manny. Heres the PICTURE. I guess youve read THIS.

i may opt for the K26#8 hotside.Billman gets full boost @ 3500-3800rpm and i bet the #8 K26 wont bring that higher than 100-300rpm.
