      Just run in

      Fitted a 103K miles 3B into mine last year and removed the head to change oil seals and exhaust guides, but the bores had virtually no wear at all.
      A refurbed head would be the max that would be required and even then only if you're doing an engine swap anyway and wanted to check everything out. I fitted the metal gasket at the same time so not expecting to be touching mine again for several years...make that decades as I am limited to 3000miles a year!!! He has obviously never driven anything but poxy Corsa's or Peugeot's.

          i agree;

          I'd have to agree with pretty much what everyone else has said above, my s2 3b has done 180k, and is sweet as a nut, i will soon be rebuilding mine however only because i'm tuning the motor in the quest for more ponnies he he!, cheers wez.

            yup 186k on mine and not been opened up yet, i think the gasket on mine is a metal one anyway as it was a very late 3b so other than v/stem oil seals i can't see it needing more....all key sensors and seals were replaced last summer and most of those only as it was out of the car so access was good.

              Shame the chassis wasn't when you put one of them through a dry stone wall
