Difrence motor 3b/ABY

Sory my english.

Im new in s2 world, im going to buy audi s2 and after upgrade engine to 500+ the car is for weekend road use, but i have a problem that is how to choose betwin engine 3b or ABY. I´m gooing to put a big new turbo, rods, wossner pistons, cat cams, cat cams springs, injectores green, repro, and make some work in head. The diference in price beetwin buy a 3b or ABY is big, so anyone teel me if with this changes i get the same results in the engines, because i get the 3b half price of an ABY?

I know that 3b is betwin eyar 1990-1993 and ABY after that, 3b have distributor engine management and the head of engine is not good to upgrade.

Please help me to chose the car to buy.

doesn't really matter. You can make a lot of horsepower in both.
Which one that is the best isnt easy to say.
3B has the best flywheel.
You can make 1000hp with distributor if you want.

Nothing wrong with the 3B head as far as I'm aware. I think the two biggest issues if you going for that sort of power will be the 3B's weaker gearbox and it's distributor ignition system.

The ABY has a stronger gearbox and has a separate coil per cylinder which you will require for 500 BHP to avoid pre ignition.

If you plan on running stock engine management? Then you can convert the 3B to multi coil setup fairly easy, think it can be done for 1000 euro, that includes AAN ECU and 034motorsport High output coil kit.

I plan to use stock engine management, but in portugal is easy to find parts to upgrade engine but for make chips, eletronics conversions is not easy to find, can i make that conversion at home, i have seen in 034motorsport site kit´s for make the conversion.

It can be done at home but it does require some skill in soldering and electronics to do it.
