    Stroker question

    Hi all!

Since this is my first post on the forum I will start with introducing myself. My name is Eiríkur, I live in Iceland and have a 1992 Audi S4. I will put some pictures in Members cars sometime soon hopefully!

But then my question! I have a stroked engine, a AAN block with 95.5mm crank, 144mm H-beam rods and JE pistons, everything is blueprinted together, I have the stiffest motor mounts from 034 Motorsport but there are no vibrations from the engine!
I just got everything together and have just driven a little bit around in the low rpms, but now when I'm starting to think about using the gas pedal a little I first want to know how much rpm is a safe rpm on a stroker!?

I tried search and found this thread and the links in it:

But this is a rather old thread so I would like to know how things have been...

Is it ok to go to 7000-7500rpm or is 6500rpm the max!?

    Hope you have some answers.

    Thanks, Eiríkur B. Rúnarsson...

you can rev more than 7000rpm, but dont need.
it has lot of torque on lower area.

    what turbo do you have?

      you

can rev 7000-7500with no problems, if you would like to go higher you need a mapping for that. And if you would like to go beond 8000 and up it would be suggested that you get mechanical lifters.

You've got a small deck stroker in a 220mm block. If you want to keep it on the road limit your revs to 6500 rpm

You can run it higher but in the smaller deck your going to put some much strain on your rings you'll have to replace them in a short time period

have to disagree with you there jamo since 3 of my friends have been running this exact engine in Norway for more than 3years, and no problems. One rs2 600hp, one s6 700hp and one s4 550hp, and they are steadily used on tracks, like the "Gatebil" arrangements, so you can use this engine.

yup shure, since its my friends build. And they run on standard motronic. But the run original rev limit. Not 8000rpm or above.

You can, but speak to Eurospec who build the short deck strokers in america and they will say the same so will a lot of users on motorgeek.

Track use is a bit different though from everyday use,

                  i

know there are as many, meanings on this as there are engines. So will leave it at that.

Just another thing my friend bought a short deck from eurospec, and to our surprice, the bearings on the rods where rusted That was a shock, i tell ya..

So higher rpm only makes the engine wear out faster right!?

Then I assume it would be alright to just keep it under 6500rpm in my daily driving, then there are only going to be a few quarter mile runs and having the rev limiter set to a little bit over 7000rpm (if I feel like the car is working better there) isn't going to blow anything up at least, only a little bit more engine wear!??

                    Thx, Eiríkur...

Sounds good to me, the short deck stroker is punishing IMO anything you can do to prolong the life is perfect.

and why not go for the long deck stroker? OK you have more weight at the front, and you must machine one or two things on the block but you get better Rod/stroke ratio etc.
                          Go Holset or Go RS4

if i remember to my stroker, dont need to rev more than 6500rpm. maybe in 1th gear.

Doesn't anybody care about pistonspeed & acceleration? @8k rpm you are in F1 territory with pistonspeeds around 45m/s & 5,5k G.
Piston quality is no issue? Forged pistons will live beyond the end of the world?
