      WOT means Wide Open Throttle.
The cable setup is not causing the misfire but if its too tight you might break the throttle mechanism when you put your foot down hard.
Timing, you need to get the cap off the dizzy which is a fiddle then line up the flywheel mark and check the cam belt pulley and dizzy static maks. The dizzy mark has to be spot on or the ecu thinks its knocking at high boost and chucks a load of extra fuel in to put out the fire. when you line up the marks put it in a high gear and roll forward onto them so the slack is taken up the right way. Check for slack in the dizzy gear too, hope you have the metal gear fitted.
If you need to adjust the dizzy its also a fiddle, a short spanner and a bit of cord is how I do it.

i've checked the timing and it's spot on, i've also replaced ther n75 valve lastnight due to the other one breaking at the t-piece while checking the boost hoses does anyone have any other ideas so far the following parts have been replaced maf, n75 valve, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs, coil pack. i've cleaned the throttle body, intercooler and checked the boost hoses, it's had a diagnostic check and no codes came up.

i've had my car in a garage this morning and it had the codes read again but none came up, the mechanic thinks that the ecu is reading max boost before it gets to it and the overboost protection is cutting in, is this possible and can anyone shed light on the subject.

Frazz, did you test the pipework under pressure? or just visually?

quite often the leak will not appear until the hoses are under pressure and then the split, wherever it is, opens up and leaks boost.

it had a boost leak check done not so long back and it was fine. i've removed the pipes and checked for splits, the only thing i thought might be a problem is they seemed soft. but its gone back into the garage this weekend and apparently its the ecu ????

I wonder if the little rubber boost pipe inside the ecu is leaking?

tonight i've removed and opened up my ecu the pipe inside the ecu is fine, i don't know if the sensor the pipe goes to is knackered though, is there a way to test it, but what i noticed was the 2 eprom chips look like they have been replaced at some point, they have stickers on top with part numbers 1267356560 and 1267356531 on them, could these be related to my problem. i am unsure what the eprom chips do i only know what it's called.

Do they reside in sockets, or soldered into the board? Numbers state, that they are pretty much standard ABY chips.
