    if worn wastegate,then what?

If you find that the wastegate is worn, what do you do?
are these things fixable,or do you have to go to a new/aftermarket item?

what is the size of the RS2 wastegate and what is the size of choise for up to a 550hp crank?

    thanks

If you mean worn as in the diaphram is split, you can replace this quite easy,
If you mean worn as in the waste gate piston/body is damamaged, I think it would
be cheaper to find a good second hand one.
The S2/RS2 use the same waste gate, there are cars with over 550 still using oem
      waste gates,

Never did overtime until i purchased........s2

would you be certain of the quality of a used item from ebay as far as the piston is concerned?
i can change the diaphagm,no problem(if split) but the rest is a bit risky...

            also,
can an aftermarket wastegate be used on the OEM or the EVO RS2 manifold?

034 does a "drop-in" set of Tial V44 WG, as implied, unbolt old, install new.

You'll need to adapt any aftermarket WG to stock flanges if going that route, 034 is "readymade". (I happen to have one of those set's sitting in my garage )

what would the symptoms be of a wastegate diafragm?

would the pressure go high up or it just wouldnt reach the desireble pressure?

Also if the diafraghm is compromised, then would the stiffening of the spring have any effect on mechanical boost anyway?

Finally,44mm tial, isnt it too big for the 3071?

Vasilis... The S2/RS2 WG is inherently surprisingly 'leaky' - its nothing like airtight as you might expect or imagine. The internal workings are somewhat similar to large valve which is seated on a port. As the valve is raised upwards (by positive boost pressure) then the valve opens and some exhaust gas pressure bypasses the turbo thru the WG and onto the exhaust.

Search for other posts on the WG operation... I took a very rough video showing one of mine under test with an air line... You could try that one as a spare if you are really desperate, but I am more inclined to think your WGFV (N75) could be at fault. This is the device that controls how much boost is presented to the lower WG chamber... and if its too slow reacting then it will cause the WG to open early.

I see you are getting 0.4bar boost with the WGFV disconnected - that sounds OK to me... if you were unable to hit that I would suspect a faulty WG... or if you got some high spikes on that setup could indicate a sticky WG valve.

If the WG diaphagm is bad you'll get too much boost as the WG will not open properly.

On the other hand I get through a WGFV about every 2 yrs.

                          ok then
i can assume that since im not getting higher boosts here, that the diafragm is fine.Otherwise i would be getting high boost figures anyway.

So,if that is fine, then the next thing to check is the WGFV.I do have a replacement to check and i will. I will unscrew the spring of the wastegate again and do some runs.

If the WGFV (new one) proves to do the same things, then what?I am more leaning to the idea that this is not a wastegate problem, but if it is not, then could there be a compensation map for temperature that is causing this?
Mind you,i never had reached that high boost figures even in Greece with the hotter climate.
