What does this connect to? Gearbox?

I've attached a few pictures to demonstrate, but while I was bolting on the starter motor I found a wire with apurple 2-pin female connection. It runs along the lower PCV pipe.

After a good look on the left-hand side of the engine bay I found what i think is the corresponding plug, on the gearbox. Can anyone confirm that this is where it should go?

    Cheers!

There is also one on the opposite side for the speed sensor, have you connected that up?

                James,

Before I forget this lol -

                Top: Blue + Red
                Bottom: Blue + Black

That'll teach you for cutting the cable...

Have to say, that one is a PITA to get to when you've got a 3" downpipe in place!! Thought my arm might now be coming back out for a sec

Speed sensor is plugged in, as with everything else in the scary part of the engine bay! Have to say, it's a little less daunting when you start realising what each of those sensors is for, and that most are colour coded. Even the ignition is easy to get right (I say that now...)

                Cheers,

Didn't see that thread before! Could have been worth replacing that switch while the engine was out then.. ah well fingers crossed.

To be fair 15 years out of a switch is good going! the end tip had worn flat, the bummer was breaking a brand new one and having to buy it again.

You could always whip the downpipe out Ross.
