Fitting an RS2 Manifold and RS2 Turbo!

Im getting braver now thanks to help of people on here on doing work o n my car. I have fitted the RS2 Intercooler today and it got me thinking how hard is it to fit the turbo and the Manifold? Is there a guide on what to do or is anyone willing to write one? Is it a bolt on job when with the manifold and turbo? Can you do it without axle stands, can you get access by just removing the bumper? Thanks in advance

Not that bad a job if things are in ok condition like EM studs ...If you look in the projects forum there is a few pics and write ups about changing over

Mostly from above, airbox out and headlight out, bumper off will help with the pipework.

Then a set of new bolts, studs and gaskets and away you go. Use new genuine turbo studs and nuts. Best to fit new EM studs, some of the RS2 manifold ones are shorter too, need to get them in the right positions. Hopefully the old ones will come out without breaking, this is where things can get tricky.. Its all here with a bit of searching I'm sure.

Oh Yes. Dont forget new gaskets for the oil lines.

You may have to loosen the coldside housing and revolve it a bit to get everything lining up right.

He the turbo and DP studs are in good condition then leave them if you're doing it in situ. Best to remove the undertray too in case you drop anything

Make sure you get the torque values, they're low for a lot of exhaust stuff so make sure you get it right. Also, a bit of WD40 to get everything off and some copper grease helps things when it comes to maintenance.

Just found out about the studs the hard way Am currently in the middle of fitting my RS2 EM and have now removed the x3 studs that are too long and am about to cut them down abit thankfully they were replaced only two years ago when the head gasket was replaced, so they came out easily enough.
Maybe I've gone about this the hard way, but I havn't even removed my bumper or headlight and still managed to have the old turbo and manifold off in an hour and a half But what I would suggest doing is removing the bolts holding the exhaust up where the cats are (or not in my case) until I did this there was no way I could get enough movement to remove turbo and manifold.
