I think you'll need to hook it up to an air supply from a compressor to figure out anything meaningful - in terms of at which pressure it opens etc etc

Mine's regulating the pressure in the garage I've been running a catch tank for a while with the N80 inlet on the IM plugged and it's been fine.

AFAIK its open all the time till you get a lot of vacuum on a closed throttle, then it shuts but there's a small hole in the diaphagm so its not shut completely.

            yes,something like that.

i can see how there is a small spring there that pretty much keeps it open all time, except on some kind of vaccum coming from the inlet according to the orientation of the valve.
Oh well, i will change that, get rid of the filter of the catch tank, and refit the camcover gasket.

is there some kind of gluelike material that garages use when they change the gasket? or is it just the gasket and 10Nm of torgue on the bolts?

NO sealant required on the gasket - unless you are bodging a temporary repair of an old gasket.
