3B ECU required for 10 minutes

Have been trying to get my homefried 3B running properly as it will not boost past mechanical boost 0.4bar. Has virtually all new sensors on the car now, only 2nd hand one is the MAF that will be getting replaced shortly. Engine starts and ticks over perfectly, just no boost. I am at the stage where I could do with borrowing a standard ECU for 10 minutes just to confirm Pauls 'spare' that I am trialing has not got a problem. So anyone got one who is not too far from Neston (near Chester).. Paul has my original but do not wish for him to re-pack it and return it just for a 10minute test...

Yeah... I've sent a spare 3B ECU on this for David - its one of unknown parentage... If anyone has a healthy one in the area it would save a bit of messing around with post and such !

Its not MFTS - we checked that... ECU hasn't been used in years. I don't trust it 100%. But the car hasn't run for 6months either so trying to rule out stupid things here.

Is the distributor well adjusted? Mine was running at 0,4 bar because of this. Just a little bit out of point ment no boost. A little bit more out of point ment no ignition. Once it was set up fine, boost came back.
But... now that I think a little bit more about it... if the distributor was out of point a hall sender error should appear and you do not mention it. Three friends have had the same problem of lack of boost (2 on 3B and the other one on ABY). On the 3Bs, one of them was caused by the wastegate and the other one by a knock sensor. On the ABY the problem was because of the throttle sensor.
I am sorry I cannot tell you more.
          Good luck

Check all the pressure hoses from the turbo to the intake manifold. I had a littele leak, and thats was my problem.

After testing all the wiring found one of the wires to the N75 valve broken. Now have boost to 1.1bar but then after going over 4000rpm goes into limp mode and knocks boost to mechanical 0.4. Stop engine and restart and repeats. Suspect MAF anyone beg to differ?

Air leak is still most probable cause - unless the hissing noises have been cured now !

                  +1.
It is normal that you didn't have boost if the wiring to the N75 was broken. I would check the fault codes and delete them. If the limp mode keeps on I would try to find out where is the leak .
                  Good luck .
                  Cheers!

Sounds like knock sensor if it resets after restarting the ignition

Only sensor on the car that has not been changed in the past 12 months is the MAF. Had a miniscule leak on one of the hoses at the back of the manifold that is now sorted but still same problem. All new silicon hoses from MAF to throttle too and all secured with high torque jubilee clips and triple checked these after last run. If MAF doesn't fix it I am taking the car to Renn-Techs Tim Cooper to sort out....

I'm down the road in Ellesmere Port, if you need to borrow anything. It's an ABY, so I guess the ecu is no use to you. If there's anything else though.

                        Let me know.

Thanks for offer, if MAF doesn't work though, I'll need Tims Help as will need his diagnostic kit to check the values from all the sensors etc are correct. He is also in Ellesmere Port... might need a low level trailor to get there if you have one?!!

If another ECU isn't forthcoming I'd like to remove the variable... for the sake of 8 quid postage (I'll pay) and a days wait I think its an easy win. You could spend days testing sensors, swapping stuff - bit silly when we can't be 100% sure about that spare ECU which hasn't seen active service for years.

Sorry, no trailer. When we've moved my mates Cobra we've always had to hire one from Port Sunlight Trailers. About £30-35 per day I think.

                              Good luck.
