    Aux Rad Removal

I'm 99% sure that I'm gonna remove the aux rad on mine as it gets in the way of so many other tasks.

Knowing some of the UK owners have done this already - how are the water temps in traffic with the recent heatwave ? Do you see any noticeable difference with the aux rad removed, or just the main fan coming on more often to keep things in check ?

I'll need a couple of hose bungs for the conversion - preferably in metal - I know someone got a batch made up, but can't recall who to ask !

    Cheers,

    Paul

John (Newsh) made them up but Forge Motorsport make them - I think they call them Dump Valve Bungs!! It is less hassle for John if you buy them there (John told me to) - about £12 inc postage for 2 - I got a smaller one for the lower hose - becasue if you cut it close to the T the hose it's a smaller diameter. I think it was 20mm and 15mm (check this before you buy though).

Ive seen no adverse affects paul, cant say ive ever noticed the fan coming on more often, i'd actually say its running slightly cooler if anything, think mark has reported this also. needle now sits 3 digits below 90, thats with new stat also.
Lee had his removed throughout the hot weather last summer with no probs.

I've not bunged them in yet - hope to do that in about a weeks time though - If yours were 25mm John, then I have a 25mm and 20mm - They should be good.

Plumbers sell "22mm" brass caps with a solder ring that work just fine on both hoses. Since removing the aux rad, my motor warms up faster and the temp remains more stable.

Is there a guide to this?

My aux Rad sprung a leak today and piss*d coolant everywhere!

Mate managed to bend the offensive grills to stop the leaking.

How much does a new Aux Rad cost and whats fitting it like or should i just get some 1" Dump Valve Stop Bungs and Jubilee clips and blank of the Rad and chuck it??

Hope this isn't the sign of the times!

Your timing is perfect. Everyone is going to be selling their Aux Rads on the cheap. But frankly, I think you do best to buy the bungs and do like the rest of us .... chuck the thing.
