Is there a definitive list of earth locations? I've got the IM (X2), and block to chassis, cant find anywhere else... would be interested to know how many termination points there should be from the loom.

i borrowed the hall sensor tester from lcsmith and tested it, sensor works fine. it still sounded like it was trying to fire on two cylinders, turned the key again and it spluttered into life!!
its idleing abit ruff and there is a slight tappet noise? there is good oil pressure (5bar)

          any ideas?

          cheers adam

Adam - thats good it validates LCsmiths hall sensor is good - its his immo wiring doing the badness. For you I think it is a case of timing belt being out of kilter.

Out of kilter means means "not working or adjusted properly".
