    cylinder liners

i have decided actually forced to go with new cylinder liners; reason is i received the pistons and took them to machine shop, he honed the block with out honing plate. which i believe is not healty.cause when you torque the heads ,there is a poosbility of chancing shape of the cylinders.
i dont know if its standart on your machine shops to use honing plates ,or i dont know if you use them but its not used very common here in turkey.

thats why i will install new cylinder liners and will hone the block with this part installed.

any comment? any liner brand which can stand hi-stress?

one funny thing: i have the plate ready in my car, man at the machine shop took the equipments from my car and forgot to take that plate....

You can't put liners in the RS2 5 cyl block AFAIK. There isn't enough distance between the cylinders. You might have to source another block if your has been machined incorrectly. Someone here can confirm or deny.

      this sounds bad...
if you are right i have two options then:
1-use it as is; honed without honing plate installed
2-install honing plate and maximize piston to wall measure, then it will make some sound when cold....

      hard desicion...

do your machine shops use that plate all the time? cause this idiot says not very important....

The torque plate should be used for machining and honing to ensure that the bores remain true when the head is bolted on. Honing with a torque plate won't improve things much if you have machined the block without one.

If you are ONLY honing your block I am not convinved the torque plate does much but I would still use one just in case.

BTW, a 4 cyl torque plate is no good. You need a 5 cyl one otherwise you are wasting your time.

Due to the power levels you are targeting I suggest you find someone who really knows what they are doing when machining high performance engine components. Are there any race engine builders you can contact? You don't only need the torque plate but you should also fit the bearing caps too before machining and overbore.

What has actually been done to the block at the machine shop? Have they done an overbore or just a hone? It makes a difference!

Overbore should have had main bearing caps and torque plate fitted. Find a better machine shop and see if irrepairable damage has been done!! You are going to be running high boost dude, you need to get this bit (as welll as everything else) spot on to ensure a successful conversion with maximised reliability.

Check this out, is this the torqueplate you mean?

I`ve made this for Jeffer and my own cilinderblock to bore and hone it.

                            Cheers,

                            Cees

dont you think there is even very small chance to save the block?
