I painted it with Halfords VHT Aluminium paint. Looks superb and has a nice matt finish. Trouble is it marks incredibly easy just putting everything back together put marks all over it.
I'm not sure it's curing properly either as the paint is rated up to 450 c and I don't think it's getting hot enough. I really hope I don't end up taking it off and doing it all again

I got the 8mm hose from a local motor factors place. Just standard hose (in fact I think it was actually fuel rated stuff) £1.10 per foot. Hopefully it will work OK. I'll wait and see.Ex 1994 Avant - now driving a Lotus 340rComment

Looks great Leigh - I'm gonna carry on with some half assed polishing with mine with the bits still on the car, but will no doubt in the end get it powdered coated etc. Still look like ***** with all the tin foil all over that black pipe, but what the hey - when everything else is too hot to touch that inlet pipe is only warm, so it's doing something right. I'll have to get off my *** and cut up that polished stainless I got for heatshielding, and hack some holes in the bonnet. Just another job to 'get round to' but yours looks fab - better than new!'The Bacofoil Express'...

Yeah, good point there. I have spent the better part of 6 months trying to find a "leak" that was not there. In the end a good chap with a VAGCOM and some turbo knowledge diagnosed the wastegate "preload" as having been fiddled with. He returned it to factory spec and the difference in performance and drivability is remarkable. I'm not sure how it all works, but the chappie worked on the hex screw in the top of the wastegate and that's it.
