Do NOT block the EVAP line from the canister - otherwise tank fumes will have nowhere to vent --- unless of course you have fabricated an alternative way to let the tank breath... It can build up quite some pressure on a hot day.

This subject has been discussed at length... Fuel vapours build up on a hot day - and need to be vented... They are treated by a carbon canister which has an ECU controller 'EVAP' or purge valve to release metered amounts of fumes into the inlet manifold when its under vacuum.

Meant to add... the bottom of the carbon canister inhales ambient air from underneath the car to help this 'purging' effect of treated fumes into the inlet manifold. If that bottom vent on the carbon can it blocked then the EVAP system will a) not work correctly and b) put a vacuum inside your fuel tank.

Dont vent to atmosphere. Tried this on mine and the lack of vacuum in the sump meant oil passing the turbo seals instead of being sucked through to the sump and it smoked badly. Refitted the outlet of the catch tank back to the MAF hose and smoke reduced by 99%
