    power loss

Somebody from you has encountered this problem after fiting bigger intercooler?
3B with MRC high boost chips used to make 1.4 bar.... now, after fiting bigger intercooler is boosting 1.4 for less then 2 sec and then dropsat 1.1 1.2 bar and is not feeling like before.
    Disconected the MFTS, pressure tested,
    Ideas? Please!
    Thank You!
    Regards!

The intercooler fitted is RS2, also fitted new RS2 MAF, have vac tested wastegate membrane.... TBV is Milltek and appears to be fine...

Bosst leak test shows no leaks, no codes are stored.

Static timing is spot on, indeed, was running fine before..... Actually, ran fine immediately after fitting intercooler and new hoses... Just after 100 miles iruns out of puff....

    Anybody any ideas????

    Thanks,

    Chris

It makes boost to the correct level, then drops off very quickly.....

Is there no other "tests" you can think of? I was thinking to change the WGFV.... and seen some mention of knock sensors...

Also, it had an issue with the G28 showing as faulty (even with engine running)..... but now not.... maybe this is still an issue but is not causing a fault code..

Actually, this is the first and only fault this car has shown for a long time.... But it cleared "all of a sudden" and wouldn't reappear.... does this sensor being possibly faulty cause the ECU to reduce boost?

I also tested the altitude sensor.....

Sounds like the ABY setup where it compensates for inlet temperature. Mine is supposed to do 21 PSI but actually does 18 PSI.

It used to drive sooooo differently, unchanged at first after fitting RS2 intercooler, but then "something" has happened and the car is gutless higher up the speedo...
Initial pick up is good, but very short lived.... it really is not normal...

Hmmmm, this is driving me nuts.... I have changed the WGFV, checked throttle adjustment. Checked throttle potentiometer and also altitude sensor
Is there any way of checking the turbo? If it feels ok by "fingers" ie, no play, free spinning etc, can I assume it is ok?
Not sure what else to check....

                  fixed...!!!!!!

It was the rear knock sensor, I bought a front one, changed it with no difference, then used my old front one as a replacement to test the rear..... all of a sudden the car is alive again...!!!!

                  Thanks for everyones help....

This has been noticed before, a knock sensor can go "noisy" and the engine thinks its knocking when its not, no fault code cos as far as the ecu is concerned the sensor is just doing its job.

                      Cool that its fixed

Good to hear you have sorted it out Chris. SOunds like it was a pain to find, but at least it was an easy (cheap) fix.
                        Cheers
