I decided to make my own baffles and check flaps.

I should be going dry sump next year but this should help for now.

Quick sketch-up of sump sidewalls with filter in.

Just the idea of sandwiching the foam between two layers of aluminium sheet looks like this would drain the oil nicely, and keep it down.
Next best thing would be to add some baffles inside the lower part of the sump.

They are small rubber flaps thet pop into place to let oil flow in one direction.

I know people use them in cosworth circles like this.

Anyone know where i can buy the rubber flaps from
Where i used to work we used to make up windage trays and sump baffles for rally engines-back in the days before digi cameras so no pics unfortunately- but it involved a LOT of measuring and trial & error- the best/easiest/cheapest way is to make up trap doors which allow the oil flow TO the pick up pipe but stop it flowing away from it.

    This is the idea: http://guy-croft.com/viewtopic.php?t...ight=wing+sump

Yeah just been out to the garage - the 7A one mounts lower in the sump, so combination of both plastic tray and windage tray should be an enhancement i guess. Have 7A sumps just gone up in value?

I hope so because thats what I'm using. I never realised that the plastic baffle was not from the S2, so I must have a 7A sump. It's already fitted with the windage tray from a 3B.

That is a 7A tray, not an RS2. The RS2 tray is the same as 3B, ABY and AAN.

Interestingly the RR is listed as having the same tray as the 7A. [edit] As well as the 3B from the 200 quattro Turbo.

    Same as the 3B too.

I have a couple of plastic 7A windage trays here. They don't have flaps on them, just louvres.
