Yeah just been out to the garage - the 7A one mounts lower in the sump, so combination of both plastic tray and windage tray should be an enhancement i guess. Have 7A sumps just gone up in value?

They are small rubber flaps thet pop into place to let oil flow in one direction.
I know people use them in cosworth circles like this.

Quick sketch-up of sump sidewalls with filter in.
Just the idea of sandwiching the foam between two layers of aluminium sheet looks like this would drain the oil nicely, and keep it down.
Next best thing would be to add some baffles inside the lower part of the sump.
