No I'm not sure that the pressure gets to the head, that's one of the things I'm thinking about. I'm not really sure how to check it, the guy who owns the car isn't keen on paying for a more extensive operation on the car, just thought a good diagnose would be could, cause if this is the case, I have to pick apart the engine and see if there's any blockage of some sort.. Tough situtation considering the car really needs an overhaul.

First stop would be a flsuh and using the some decent synthetic with a lower weight IMHO, did he put that 20w mineral treacle in there to try and stop the noise?

Maybe the crank is churning the thick oil and creating air bubbles in the oil and causing too much lash in the tappets?

        Good point!! Thanks !

I've ordered a special cleaning solution that I'm putting into the mineral oil , this is supposed to clean / lube up the lifters, it is specifically made for sounding tappets, will then start the car and bring it to operating temperature, and after that, change the oil to 0-40 synthetic oil. Hopefully this helps. Otherwise I guess a few oil flushes is needed to clean the engine from this POS mineral oil, can't believe how anyone can recommend this oil for a street car... I used mineral oil in my old Typhoon (chevy v6 turbo) the oil was crap in that engine too, sounded like a tractor .. Then I had TWS 10/60 oil, then the engine ran smoother.. Will never use mineral oil in a street car, in a RACE engine, thats another story..

AFAIK mineral oil is normally recommended for breaking in a newly built engines to help the rings to seal so maybe thats why its still in there

Yes but only for 1000km max, then it's sythetic all the way, I only use mineral oil 15-30 minutes, then sythetic oil
