Vacuum pipes question does size really matter??

Does the internal diameter of the vacuum pipes make a difference?
I have 3mm ID silicone hose spare from another project, the S2 uses 4mm ID I would prefer to use what I have rather than buy new but dont want to replace at a later date if they will cause a problem...Help please

technically for the physicists yes , can't remember the relative formula I should be quoting, realistically people have used 3/3.5/4mm. they'all work, 4mm would be your best most useful option if thats waht you got, though sometimes it's a right pita using the classic cloth covered 3.5mm

Easy life with 4mm - you will find some joints mighty tight on 3 or 3.5mm if using the cotton braided stuff as Eric says...
