  • How to run fuel pump on separate wires?

So I have read a couple of threads where it is mentioned that people are running a separate wire for the fuel pump.

So I have a couple of questions to how it is done:

I'm thinking that I take a relay and hook up the +12V and ground from the fuel pump to the relay. This way the relay will turn on the pump when the motronic turn it on.

What amount of current does the relay need to handle?

What kinda size wire do use?

Where do you take ground from?

Do you change the wires inside the tank or just from the plug located on top of the tank?

Any kinda pictures of better explanations would be nice.

I havent touch the tank wires during my upgrade, still uses stock wires on 1 Bosch 044 intank and this pump gas to a separate tank (catchtank) AN10 x 2 Catch to Bosch 044 PPF Y-Block AN 10 to fuelrail. The two 044's from catch is wired separatly to an Biltema Relay and 30 amp fuse wich I manually start up with a Switch. This system pump gas like hell... when u turn ignition on u fire up all pumps and u fill 1 bootle of coke 50cl in 2,5 sec !
pretty amazing. I can post this video

DIY Fuel Pump Relay Procedure - UrS4/S6 but adaptable

This detailed fuel pump relay installation procedure was developed for the C4 UrS cars but I think it should be generally adaptable to the B3 and B4 S2s, etc. Wire colour for the fuel pump might be different so check that first:
