    Oil line & N75 Solenoid Q.

    Evening All,

I'm going to replace my standard oil cooler with a 13 row Mocal or similar but i'm not sure what fittings I need for the oil lines where they connect to the filter housing (see pic).
    P1030854.jpg
Does anyone know what size and type of fitting i need to request?

Secondly i'm going to replace the N75 with the Turbosmart solenoid but i'm not sure which is the best direct replacement. I looked on their website and found these http://www.turbosmartonline.com/index.php?id=43 . Am I looking at the right ones and if so which is best?

    As always, appreciate your help

    Cheers

You will probably need a remap of your motronic ECU software once you replace the N75 with an aftermarket one.

so you fit a turbosmart solenoid and then have it remapped, be a test subject and all.

why not just get an n75 or a full eboost. will be cheaper and less likely to have issues.

fiull eboost set to 1 bar will be nice. BTDT

            Thanks chaps,

The car will need a remap anyway due to the build ( http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37387 ) and i'm considering the Turbosmart solenoid after reading the various threads on the subject that generally suggest it is more reliable? I'm still a bit green when it comes to the various options regarding the N75 and figured it was best to fit something that either works better or makes the mapping process easier. If I hadn't seen the threads regarding alternatives I would have just bought a new OEM N75 and thought nothing of it. Is this still the best way to go or do you suggest I continue down the alternative route and if so which one?

            Cheers

Still need more help with the oil lines... Has anyone had some lines made up to fit on to the filter housing? I've got a Mocal cooler with 5/8 threads and fittings that i can easily have hoses crimped to but I can't find a supplier that has the same fitting that the OEM lines have that fit to the housing... The OEM ones have a domed end with a rubber sealing ring inserted in the domed section. Can anyone help either identifying what type of fitting this is or have details of somewhere i can get such fittings? Need them real quick as my car has to get started and leave the garage pronto!!

              Cheers

Russ you need to use some -8 or -10 line. Give Speedflow or earls uk a call. Also some

                You will need,

                2x M18 1.5 to -10

                2x Female 5/8 BSPP to -10

Then the fittings so you may need 2x 45deg and 2x 150 or 180 degs? You will need to sus this out though.

                Good luck

                  Cheers James.

I've got two 90deg 5/8 fittings for the cooler end (i've mounted the cooler above the IC on the IC bracket) and agree will prob need two 45's for the filter end. What does the -8 & -10 refer to? Will speedflow or Earls have the same type fittings as the OEM lines with the rubber seal? I preferably just need the fittings with a section i can get some hose crimped to if poss.
Do I even need to use a fitting the same as the OEM ones at the housing?

I bought them with the cooler, haven't fitted any hose to them yet. They're exact same as these but a 5/8 fitting http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mocal-Steel-1-...4#ht_720wt_713
So your AN fittings go straight on to the housing? Do they have the rubber seals or are they not necessary?

they might work with some push lock hose like on the speedflow web site. If not you might have to change and go with the convertors and proper AN fittings and hose

I looked at similar AN fittings in the shop where I was going to get my hoses/lines made and they claimed the AN fittings wouldn't work at the filter housing end... Have you got any more of the ones you used?

Looks like this will work in the -8 Size As that comes back to the 1/2"

Bah its because the fittings are metric. They wont susport the AN fittings this is why you need the adaptors for the filter housing like i have.

Speed flow will have them in stock
