You can change the style the forum displays by selecting your preferred style at the bottom left of the site.
We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links

i have a 94 aby S2 and after 15 mins or so of starting i get a strong bitter sweet burning smell inside and outside the car
i cant pin it down to anything in particular
has anyone had a similar problem ?

If your neighbours can stand it..try leaving it ticking over from cold....until it is using the cooling fan...then look round the engine. If no leaks and no smell..then...
I would go for brake fluid or PS fluid leak. Should be easy from there. Road test...
Have you laid underneath the car and had a look. Years ago, with my old GT, I had a carrier bag melt onto the exhaust downpipes... It stunk for ages afterwards as I was only doing short runs in it. Might be as simple as a carrier bag (or similar) stuck on the CAT or wedged up on the exhaust.
