    Another problem, help please......

driving the car today, same as i always do (enthusiastically) had been driving it no problems for a good 30+ miles

slowed into a roundabout, had to stop as there were cars already on it, went to pull away and it did then almost instantly sounded like a back fire into the airbox and the car stuttered to a halt.

started it again, had to give it a bit of throttle, revved it and it sounded a little lumpy then off the throttle and it just died again, did this a few times, same thing....

as it happened had a spare MAF in the boot (2 infact) swapped it over, same, put the 2nd spare on, same

unplugged the MAF started it, and it ran and idled fine managed to drive it home (very gutless, no power)

open the throttle more than about 50% and it felt like it does when its out of fuel (sort of pulling the car back)

got home, unplugged the battery and replugged in the MAF (2nd spare, known to be good) plugged the battery back in, still the same. So repeated this with the origional MAF, same....

    any ideas?

    yes.

definitely not a maf problem as it appears!!!!

i would say you need to check the lamda and see if it makes a difference, and if you have a vagcom checker, see look for codes.

finally have a look if the coil pipes and plugs are properly secured. Of course the main thing is that you probably have some kind of loose hose somewhere. The way you described it sounds like something may have gone loose.

TPS plug on the TB? Means it will idle but not rev. Done that before, also worth checking if you've blown a hose off (more likely), more than likely the TB hose, check teh TB also.

lambda sensor is brand new vw/audi genuine part, it does sound like a problem with a hose, but i couldnt see any blown off, the tps plug did seem to be connected, but will check that tomorrow, and ill take off the the boost hoses and re-fit. Do std boost hoses split?. Anything else worth checking?

Split hose I should imagine - or holed intercooler ???

A quick pressure test will tell you.

A tenner says you will hear a rather load 'psssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' noise under a leak test

I blew a hose off once while testing some years ago - hadnt tightened a clip fully - doesnt really wanna go anywhere when the ECU has no clue how much air its breathing. Not fun trying to get the hose back on inside a hot engine bay without gloves and a queue of cars behind you at a busy roundabout. NUrse it home redfaced and redfingered
