I think the look of a bit of stainless steel tubing (4mmID) with presision holes drilled in would look trick with some St/St clamps holding it on to the valance then a water supply at either end would be very effective, six holes on the tube evenly spaced onto the intercooler

Similar, maybee just a straight piece of tubing clipped onto the front valance with a set of six/eight holes along the tube all pointing at the intercooler i do like the co2 effect though, i have seen this used on a rolling road to cool a cars intercooler to get maximum bhp by using a co2 fire extinguisher while it is on the r/r:eek2: made a massive difference on the golf turbo, knocking it to over 25hp what it run at normaly.

This looks smart, and probably works!!!
Maybe a good option, they got other "chilled" stuff aswell. And complete bolt on kits.

I think this Co2 method might be a bit too severe on our tin/cast intercoolers, if it is spraying liquid co2 onto a small section of the intercooler, that area will contract a few thou dragging the rest of the intercooler with it:eek2: . Dont know if you guys have ever played about with liquid co2 or liquid nitrogen but the things it can do are scary, i have placed a piece of 1/2" square key steel into nitrogen and dropped it and it shattered into millions of pieces. (Also put my apprentice`s bait in there he wasnt pleased when i shot his apple at the wall and it dissapeared into millions of pieces:mad:   ) . Aluminium based metals are much better at handling this sort of punnishment, as too is st/steel, but our mild steel intercoolers might give up the ghost with this sort of temperature change . Could you imagine what damage a stone chip would do while youre booting along with the co2 in full flow, :eek2: :eek2: (SMASH!!!ops: ). The idea is good so if you could some how incorporate a Co2 charged radiator/element into the dirty side of the filter box and have the co2 discharging away into the arch to avoid reducing the O2 content or something like it then this would also work. Surely if the inlet temp was reduced by 20deg c the turbo outlet will be reduced by 20 deg c and then into the intercooler, might work?

Now that would be funny!!! 'my turbo's so powerful, I blew up the intercooler!'

                    Graham,

Dunno about yours, but my IC is aluminium alloy.

It would also cost a fortune in compressed gas to keep that cooler going

I have now got my grubby little mits on some 99.7% proof alcohol!! For the sprayer honest. I will water this down and try that to see if the temps drop even further.

I had my intercooler made from gold and had diamonds set in it to give it that 'im a posh knob jocky' effect. Only joking mine is also made of alloy.

Sorry my mistake of course its alloy, how else wouldnt it go rusty red being only black painted, but the cooler in the intake wouldnt have to work permanantly, just the same as you wouldnt have the water jets on the intercooler running continuously ( youd need gallons of water ) but have it setup so that it gave the cooler a 15 sec. burst when you floor it and need all the horses you can muster.
                        or something similar?

                          Tom,

Are your nozzles aiming directly across the front of the car? What happens when you are stationary - are you still getting a mist onto the intercooler? Anymore feedback on yours?

I might try and get mine fitted this weekend - maybe.

Was also thinking of using a couple of Peltier devices (thermoelectric coolers) on a lump of metal - with a hole through it to get the water temperature really low.

It sprayed just infront of the IC. Have not really used it much recently. Will fill the bottle back up for the RR day.

It OK in theory, but not sure that it makes that much difference on days like we are having at the moment

Cheers Tom - I don't think I need it in this weather either - it was just for the RR in case it started to get warm on it.

I did a sprayer to my IC also. Here we have a really hot weather. Above 25ºC (sometimes 40ºC) all summer.

However, I ageed with this text concerning Ice on the water. Check this and tell what you think about it
