    Is an 044 overkill?

im thinking of going for an 044 fuel pump for my ABY to try and cure some stuttering and the lean running it showed up previously on the dyno.

apart from a homefries, roose hoses and a bailey DV its a standard engine.
Would an 044 be too much for it, possibly causing it to go rich, or would the FPR & lambda compensate for this? Car is currently running a 4bar FPR.

the whole point of going for the 044 over a standard is that at somepoint in the future i wouldnt mind going 3071r or similar.

    Cheers.

Sure get one but it sounds like you've got other issues there...

Before you change the fuel pump, change the fuel filter if it's clogged it will cause you to go lean on a dyno

I've got 2 in my CQ just to be sure when running E85

You could also use a pump from a CIS model (KV, NG). Good for 500bhp on gas.

already done. Would probably have been less awkward to change the pump though

                Any ideas?

had a new fuel filter, fuel pressure is good, TPS reads 100% at WOT on vag-com, plugs are new bosch ones and all tight, roose hoses boost tested many times, brand new intercooler O-ring, MAF give 0.7volt output iirc.

havent checked the AFR since fitting a new lambda though, and at least one of the cats is rattling?

im running out of things to try, apart from trying out a standard ECU?

Check the voltage to the pump, consider doing a relay connection to the pump.

Or just change it for a 044 like your title it's cheap enough and is a futureproof upgrade

If your fuel pressure is good during a run then why do you want to change the pump? If you can check it over the full rev range then that'll tell you if it's a pressure problem and could save you some cash.

Sounds like looking at the cats might be a plan too, they have been known to disintegrate and block the exhaust.

In theory a leak on the inlet pipe before the turbo but after the MAF could cause jean running. Is the car running right? A mate had a hole in the inlet pipe and it caused a hiccup when coming on boost. A boost leak test will help here and is good for peace of mind.

as above, cat sounds suspect, worth checking even if it doesnt solve ur problem, might be holding back power. Sticky injector?

gonna run yet another boost leak check on it too

I have been running a 044 for 18 months now on a standard car to begin with...but not now...it, ash as been mentioned, a replace and not have to worry if your going to upgrade and increase the hp....
