Do you mean the camwheels look different? I think the smaller teeth just run quieter, otherwise there's no difference, or is the camchain a different part too? Have you tried the chain? Does it fit?

same applies as 16v IIRC

early had spiked teeth. late have rounded. its about top end engine noise.

the chains were different on 16v so presume are on these. not seen spikey teeth on any audi 20v.
