Sounds like a sall boost leak. You're running 97/8 too I hope, 95 can make these cars run like utter toss.

FYI knock sensors don't give codes

Exqueeze me? Of course knock sensors throw codes:

•2141 (Blink Fault Code), 00535 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Knock regulator #1
Excessive knock, timing is being retarded by maximum amount,
Symptom: Low boost on 20V, Fuel octane too low, Excessive Compression, excessive boost

•2142 (Blink Fault Code), 00524 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Knock sensor #1 (G61)
Open or short circuit, Defective sensor Check sensor and wiring
Symptom: Timing retarded, High fuel consumption, power loss, Boost pressure not attained

•2143 (Blink Fault Code),00536 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Knock sensor #2, (Cylinders 3, 4, 5)
Excessive knock, timing is being retarded by maximum amount.
Symptom: Fuel octane too low, Excessive Compression, excessive boost

Yep running 97/98 RON and always have. Could do with my boost gauge so i can see what the boost is actually doing.

I had a TIM one, they were cheap and it worked well, was lucky enough to pick up a VDO one secondhand for the same money. They're invaluable when diagnosing boost issues, if it flutters on WOT then you're more than likely losing boost.

Yeah bought one from demon tweeks but does not work! So sending it back and getting another. Just takes time which is frustrating

Strange, I take it you've tried putting a line on it and sucking / blowing? SUre you've got the right line to tap off? (Sorry for the simple points but better to make sure )

Terrybullwon fitted it and just stuck at -5psi! Annoying as wheni really want it to see what happening i can use it

When out tongiht i opened the car up a few times. It takes off like a rocket if i use 3?4 throttle it seems at WOT it is when it hesitates and causes overboost protection. Any ideas?

Boost leak or maf wiring. We've been trying to get Steve over here for a leak test but we've both been busy on different days etc..
