  • Garrett turbos on a stroker by PKM

    2.5L in combination with a GT3071R 0.63 A/R and PKM cam setup

2.1 bar to produce max 694Nm
    1.9 bar at 467 BHP
    1.6 bar red-line

+500Nm from 3000 RPM til 6000 RPM is impressive I must say.

AndyP be interested in this as this is his setup except he has the .82 hotside so he should pull closer to 500 bhp.

PKM has tested the following combination's and comes to these conclusions on rs-quattro.de

              3071 0,63 very good for 2,2L and 2,5L
              3071 0,82 good for 2,2l and 2,5L
              3076 0,63 adequate for 2,2L good for 2,5L
              3076 0,82 adequate for 2,2L good for 2,5L
              3082 0,63 inadequate for 2,2L satisfactory for 2,5L
              3082 0,82 inadequate for 2,2L satisfactory for 2,5L
              3582 0,82 good for 2,2L good for 2,5L
              3582 1,06 satisfactory for 2,2L and good for 2,5L

Thats a strange trend the smallet and largest turbo in the 3071 and 3586 are good for the 2.2 but the 3076 & 3082 aren't.

Seems they rate the 3071 quite highly AndyP is quids in

is that not due to the balance of the hot and coldside being better on the edge turbos on that list?

Probably more that the gains the turbo can make in bhp are negated by the engine VE characteristics.

Because of this cams play a major part here though as PKM aren't using stock cams

For instance the 3071r.63 does not like the sotck rs2 cam setup it induces surge, change it to stock AAN / ABY and the results are better.

so what do pkm use cam wise.

it just looks like the smaller hotsides and bigger coldsides are the worst combination. i presumed they were getting choked on the hotside.

They have cams with adjustable sprockets clocked to their own profile AFAIK

                          Max power at 5500rpm...
Everything less than 2 bar is considered to be naturally aspirated

Peter also offers a set of cams that are better than OEM RS2 and pull (according to him) up to 7800rpm/Hydraulic lifters but stiffer springs.
