Is it not pretty much same deal as a golf 8v or audi 10v, pretty bad port design! Through must be cross flow, like the crossflow 8v golfs
Best way get power is FI and even then there is a limit, however with a good exhaust header and perhaps bike carbs like you said could get some power gains, how about 2 sets of carbs of a triple... However get the most you would want go with taking heads of and doing some porting and cams

so really 30v engine way forward

ditch the fancy intake and shove the sc in that space...plenty of room in there...
