    Water Leak

Went to check the oil and water yesterday and the water was down quite a bit, and some coolant under the car so looks like I have a water leak.

Goto start tracking down where it is leaking from now, what size and length is the small pipe on the water manifold? I was going to get a length of the pipe and some new jubilee clips in preparation if it is that part?

Also ive seen mention of the after run pump leaking, but only under pressure so will check that out too.

Looks a bit bloody cold out there at moment though.

That hose, at my 3B is 10mm inside diameter and aprox 130-140mm long.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks, been out and got some hose today then braved the cold and took the rad out this afternoon. It turned out not to be the larger hose, but the smaller one above it. The jubilees were a bit loose and you could twist them around. Also jubilee on aux rad and afterrun pump needed tightening. I managed to get the rad back in before it got dark, but no coolant yet so thats a job for tomorrow morning. Also bought a new aerial base while I was in GSF since the current one is knackered. Got it back and then realised the coax connector on the standard one is completely different which a much narrower centre pin and screw thread so Im in two minds to solder a new standard type connector on or get a genuine one from Audi?

Less risky, solder the old fittings from the original base in place of the ones on the new aerial, if it doesn't work you can still revert to a genuine one from Audi...

That's what did, works a treat....

How much do you want for it bo?

I might try changing the connector over since I already have the new aerial sitting waiting to be fitted.

Mine was leaking when not under pressure, had to be replaced but a new one is not cheaper so i would look for an alternative if required.

Mine is also dribbling coolant from the nipple on the reservoir, which has split and so needs replacing, and from the hose connection on the aux rad. I think i'll just remove the aux rad

Yeah I dont think it helps the way the inlets are shaped on the aux rad. It looked like it was leaking around the pipe on top of afterrun pump rather than the body so I will see when i get it refilled with coolant and find out if it is still doing it, I had a feeling the pump wouldnt be cheap though. Fingers crossed, gonna wait for it to warm up outside a bit first though.

After taking the rad out over the weekend and checking all of the hoses and tightening the pipes up it looks like the sodding thing has started to leak from the same clips again

Been just over a week and all looks well. Thanks for the aerial too Bo, took me a little bit of head scratching to undo the bolt on the old one, but ended up using a spanner with another through the ring end to turn it since you cant get a socket on easily or a spanner.
