Sorry to dissapoint the watchers but i will not discuss this matter on a public forum for one a persons reputation could be harmed and from past experience it gets out of control.
Richard you have my phone number.Comment

Very sorry to hear about this. It's a difficult situation as obviously it was a private sale and caveat emptor etc.. I think the best you can hope for is that both s2pearl and Aelred make a goodwill contribution towards getting things sorted out
It would have been better for this matter to stay private, but now it's out in the open I suppose the forum needs to be made aware of the conclusion.Comment

Wery sorry to here about a new engine to be like that
To me it looks like one of the rings has been to sharp on one of the ends.
This CAN happen when you file the rings to match the bore size.
It is DEFFO not caused by a bad map or to small pistons etc.
To much fuel and you would have seen scratches allarround the bore as this washes the oil off the cylinders, to small pistons gives slap and they have to be WAY to small to give stratches, but if they are you would get stratches on both sides of the cylinders.
So my appinion is a bad adapted cylinder ring has caused thisComment

Have to agree with James. Aelred is always a very fair man, in truth to fair. I have known him for nearly 18 years and watched him build numerous engines including those of my own and his attention to detail particularly cleanliness is second to none.
I cant understand what this thread hopes to achieve, S2 Pearl's post is also very clear as to how he would like to move things forward.
It staggers me that so many people have already posted on this thread if it was to say my engines great would it be so popular.
Being involved in a forum and earning a living out of the topic it covers seems to becoming a game of Russian roulette.
I do feel for you and you are in a difficult position but i dont think this thread will help resolve this unfortunate issue.

DJones: Well to be honest m8, no matter how manny the man have build he COULD have made a mistake, he´s only human right?
I cant understand people no matter what the rep they have and how good they are to build an engine, if you have made a mistake, then stand buy it and be a man!
Even if it is a forign mashin shop who made the bottom end build up, i would deffo check it up before putting the pistons in or head on the block.
If it was me, you could be damn sure i would want to se the engine myself to say what happened instead of not want to have anything to do with it, ESPECIALLY an engine of this caliberLast edited by AUDIS2avant; 18 January 2010, 20:49.Comment

Just got in , seen this post, been called on the phone a few times about this today, thanks to all in your fairness in your replies
There has been correspondence between Richard and myself, i could enclose emails but as an open forum maybe that would not be right.
I have offered support but not financially as too much time has elapsed and too many factors to be considered, like car stolen , etc. not sure what the expectation is of me.
Richard did call me sometimes in december about the engine, next thing i know someone has stripped the engine and is writing a report, some of the foundings in this report ( I have 2 different reports by the way) are not quite correct, irrelevant at this stage.
It would have been nice to be offered the choice to view the engine. All I have is the pictures that I just seen on this thread
I am sorry the engine has the problems Richard is experiencing and hope he resolves these and gets his car up and runningAelredComment
