Ben - that sounds very plausable. I have always said the exhaust is pretty much solid from the turbo all the way back and I never liked that - it doesn't allow for movememnt. When I make my downpipe I am going to have a couple of flexi pipes to allow for movement.

Remap (including 3Bar map). 700 Euros

It is all just nuts and bolts - apart from welding the bracket for the RS2 IC. You need to be prepared to skin your knuckles - you don't need a ramp. And there is the possibilty of the the EM studs breaking - these need to be replaced with RS2 ones or a couple of originals cut.

You should really do the headgasket and rod shells on the 3B as well - that will get your hands a bit more dirty.
Aah, not as expensive as I had thought... :mischeif:

One other question then - with the MTM chip as it is, if you swap in all the new hardware but don't remap straight away, how does it run? I undertand that the remap is necessary, but, say for example that there was a time delay between fitting the new hardware and getting the software re-done, what will the car drive like then? I assume that basically the IC and EM essentially improve the efficiency of the engine, (lower charge temp, denser air, more bang, improved volumetric efficiency on the exhaust so better air flow so more bang) whereas it's the bigger turbo with it's increased boost that makes things complicated?

The 3Bar MAP - I presume that's to allow higher boost pressure generated by the bigger turbo?

I think I could almost cope with nuts and bolts and pipes etc. I can't do welding at all, and I certainly couldn't do a head/pistons. What sort of job is that?

Your MTM chip will probably be OK as long as you don't use WOT. If you change to bigger injectors you might not have enough adjustment in the mixture, so it might run rich. Mihnea fits the 3bar map sensor and that is inc in his price - check with him for the price at the time though.

I think im going to have to not use WOT on mine for a bit until i can get it remapped by minhea. Ill just be using rs2 turbo, em though, until i can afford the intercooler and injecters....

Injectors are easy to change so I would leave them off until the day it gets mapped anyway.

Beetie - where did you get the Rs2 turbo from? How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking, was it 2nd hand? How complicated is the fitting job? Have you installed it on to the standard manifold?

I got the turbo from Martyn @ Vagparts, wont say how much to save embarassment But not cheap! I thought about using the standard manifold, but the gasket set is 100 quid so thought id save myself that in the future and buy the RS2 manifold whilst im at it
Just need the ic and injectors and i can give Mihnea a ring! LOL!
I'll also be fitting my milltek at the same time (poss this w/e) which also has the cat bypass pipes.....
As for job wise, its not that bad a job tbh, just a bit fiddly with the nuts (Oh err missus!) on the manifold, and the jubilee clips holding the pipe onto the bottom of the turbo. Can all be done on the road (Except i need a ramp for the exhaust! )
