RS2 IC vs AC?

Anyone had clearance issues with the AC pump pulley when fitting the RS2 intercooler to a 3B? I'm told there won't be adequate clearance.

ive not heard of any problems before now, does the AC pulley extended further out than the main pulley on the crank?

on mine which is an ABY the IC is about 5-10mm from the crank pulley so it is quite close but still fits fine.

I've got no problems with mine. Fitted first time with no clearance issues against aither the AC pulley or the standard S2 bumper.

Mine's a 3B though and the cross member is a bit different..

OK, I've had a look at the parts and compared with an ABY pump and bracket and they're different, my pump has about 10 or 15 mm more hardware sticking out in front of the pulley, looks like fitting the ABY pump will be the ticket, cross fingers..

Not very cheap ticket. Make a custom x-member that can take your IC where you want it. 10 times cheaper than a new ac compressor.

You probably also noticed that aby pump has the magnetic clutch for a ribbed belt and 3b for a v belt.

Its a V-belt on the AC pump for 3B and ABY in the UK - any RHD S2 actually - we never got the climate control system here - and the associated ribbed belt !

Hmm. Now I have to admit that I may be wrong also. I have so little experience about the aby engine so I'm not sure it has the ribbed beld driving the compressor too.

No problems with mine John, cant measure it at the monet but it was about 15mm away from AC pulley. This will also clear the std, s2 bumper inside aswell.

The second hand pump will sort it out I think, although an RS2 bumper would do the job a treat Basically with the IC clearing the clutch unit on the front of the pulley by 15mm its interfering with the inside of the bumper quite heavily.

Will need a different belt as the ABY pulley is larger diameter..

John, i cant understand why you are having problems? I never had any fitment probs with the AC pulley or the bumper. It fitted very well infact. Only a small cut to the bumper. And I mean small.
