last attempt before silence noon hours turned out that it still does the same with idle around 1500rpm and shooting off, but at least now when the throttle valve opens,it runs ok.
    still not idling though

I indeed run the 7A FW that was lightened by Aelred and it works 'out of the box' with VEMS. THe only thing Jyrki and I replaced was the hall sensor, away from the camwheel to be using a dizzy on the intake cam. Maybe it has something to do with that.....

There is truth to this. I've seen 2 different varieties of reference pins on "7a" flywheels.

I've been talking to Vasilis on the phone, generally the fix for the 7a flywheels (which have very small reference pins) is to rotate the sensors like this:

I have not heard about the pins being non-metalic. That wouldn't make much sense to me since the factory car would never run properly if that were the case.

All else fails, an easy solution is to remove the starter and either weld material to the existing pin, remove the existing pin and install a larger one, or drive a second pin adjacent to the first into the flywheel (so the two pins are touching - the ecu will see it as a single pulse). All this can be done through the starter hole, BTDT.

update... sensors were put in differently, car fired and idles.

lesson learned, whoever uses 7A flywheel, put in a log metallic just in case...

no, we welded a metal pin bigger. gap should be 0.5 to 1.25mm spec from audi.

                    it now works
