Changing the Cam cover gasket - Report

After my last service MRC told me that among other things I needed a new cam cover gasket.

So being tight I decided I'd change it myself. I found a guide on s2-audi.co.uk and bought a gasket kit from quattro corner. I followed the guide and had it changed within a few hours. The guide was great, it covered everything and was very useful and I'd recommend attempting the job to anyone with a box of tools!

My old gasket was leaking down the back of the engine and a little bit by the injectors, so if you can see oil in a similar area and you use a lot of oil then it might be worth checking yours.

Since I have changed it my oil consumption has dropped dramatically!

So a job well worth doing if needed.

    Front drop links

Thought I'd add to this thread rather than start another one.

Changed the front drop links this weekend just gone. I had been advised that they needed changing as the rubber bits were knackered. So got the metal RS2 Febi ones from QC and fitted them myself. Took about 2 hours and was overall a very easy job. The bottom mount of the drop link is quite hard to access but once you get the hang of it it is a breeze.

I've been really surprised at the difference they have made! I'm not sure whether it is some sort of placebo effect but it really does seem to corner much better with the steering being much more precise.

I'll be fitting a Whiteline RARB next time I have a few spare hours in the garage.
