Yeh, after spending a small fortune on parts i'll be checking my timing this weekend, i did change the cam belt this winter but used the dots on the timing case, which i have since found is unadvisable, and the mark on the flywheel/bell housing should be used instead, i'm a mechanic, i should know this!!
Mine is ok untill it reaches 3500 then surges and hessitates terribly. It holds good boost but just feels like the timing is being retarded and poor valve timing would explain that as much boost+poor timing would result in pinking and the knock sensors would pick up on this and act accordingly! Also i have an S6 saloon, which, although much more tired
just generally feels more 'enthusiastic' and makes the avant feel heavy and lazy, timing would also explain this.
Failing this, the car is fitted with an aftermarket cam sensor, so i may want to buy i good one!
