The only time 350Nm applies is if you are using the 2079 extension tool

The bolt gets fitted dry. No locking agent and no lubrication. You may see reference to anti-sieze compound to be applied to the mating surfaces only, but never the threads.

This is what I was lead to believe too

If your crank bolt is coming undone with that torque on it you have got a problem

the bolt can take a hell of alot of torque. and havent loosend after a whole year. np.

my language skills are to bad. cant explain my self. hehe

            Makes sense to me Wiell.

Remember if there is even the slightest bit of oil or grease on the threads or in the end of the crank then the loctite becomes a lubricant

to dispell the myth of impending disater...the car was loctited last time and has been perfectly ok in 6yrs and 45k miles on track and off it.

Personally it all sounds a tad alarmist to me, it was torqued up and rechecked, i am not expecting it to be spat out when it is back on the road as it sure didnt last time out

Why is it that you believe loctite will be come grease if it comes in contact with oil or grease? That is the first time I have heard about that anyways.

And I cant not see how you would be able to apply to little a torque unless you wait 15 minutes or more before you torque the bolt. If anything perhaps the loctite will act as lubrican and add a bit extra torque.

If loctite comes in to contact with oil or grease it doesn't work, it says so on the label

Also a thread relies on friction if you lubricate it, it reduces the friction simple

No I can't see it falling out either but that is how its meant to be done.

i think both versions works just fine. my engine builder told me to do so. then i will do it.

Fair enough about the grease thing, did not now that.

I believe I was trying to say the same thing, that if you add loctite it will perhaps lower the friction when you tighten it thus you will torque it a bit more. However it will not increase friction unless you wait 15 minutes or more before you tighten the bolt.

Someone just said that the bolt would fall of it you loose loctite and that is not the case.
