If you can manage to change a timing belt ....this task is quite easy as that is the hardest part I would say

Rs2 shouldn't be laggy so to speak, if so then the OEM cams were probably timed incorrectly or you have a stock RS2 map. Get a remap or generic chip set and it should boost between 3000-3800

Was it mapped with the 7As or with stock cams?

Try just removing the inlet cam first as I think that is the one that changes the engines character so much. How weird to hear this car still carries it's nickname as the bacofoil express. Tremendous.

Meant to add that I have generic chips for RS2 that work with ABY cams rather nicely. Let me know if interested... Might need a mapping tweak if it was optimised for 7A cams.

yes certainly has a history this car, its had ££££ spent on it. ive got an alloy intake pipe now but the one it came with was coated in ceramic paint (by apness aka paul).

Do you still have the original bacofoil? might be worth a few ££

the 7a ex cam also has loss issues.

i have tried 2 or 3 timing points so far on the stock equipment to no avail.

i may swap back to aby cams or maybe fit both 7a instead of just ex.

i know ill miss the top end though. i remember the engine did feel tighter at the top with the aby cams. thisd wont be an issue on the rs2 turbo as it runs out of puff before then.

id have adu or aby in an rs2 car.

do you need a remap. for debate.

                              Do you NEED-no
would it be ideal - YES

the cam changes may make it a little richer than on the 7a. but you may find that with the turbo cams the combustion is better therfore sharper.

im on vems as you know. the changes i made were ever so slight with the 7a cams. it run fine without the changes. i found maybe due to the profiles it was a little poorer from 2500 to 4500 or so.

thats the issue with motoronic or any factory ecu. modding can be a pita due to thestock maps.

id say it will adapt the motronic enough for now.
