How to check timing with Strobe Light or VagCom

    Hi,

I need to use check my timing so I can enter the correct number in VEMS under "TDC after trigger".

I know this can be done using a strobe light, but where do you aim the strobe light at? Is it the small window at the flywheel?

I know that I can use VAGCOM to see what the timing is, and I remember reading that on a warm engine timing should be 10 degrees at idle.

So if VAGCOM reads 11 degrees is in then correct that my timing is 1 degree off and then I could correct VEMS with 1 degree or is it stupid doing it this way?

Jonas, I would think you should be pointing the light at the flywheel through the hole in the gearbox. That's normally how you set the timing on older models.

      See you soon!
