Just spotted some concerns about the pulley wheel being a weak point and prone to failure.
What replacement non OEM part is recommended that can be obtained fairly quickly?
Many thanks
Chris
Many thanks James. Just read what happened with Sleeper Avant and Jamo's comments which alarmed me somewhat. I thought I also read something about you fitting a Pace one (probably mistaken as a bit confused with all that is going on at the moment ).
Chris
And i would take OEM over DBR one, my DBR one is sat on my parcelshelf may or may nor mod it with a stronger woodruf key like james did.
Did you ever fit it though? James is the only one on here that had a problem with it and there's a lot of members using it without issue.
Yet there are a lot of reported failures with the OEM one so the logic to me just doesn't add up.
Ask AndersS2 and Sleep Avant, this OEM part has failed and taken out their engines.
I checked my DBR after said Terrybullwon scare and there was nothing wrong with it the fact i've seen it used on 1200 bhp strokers leads me to believe their is nothing wrong with the DBR wheel.
think im with jamo although i cannot say yay for dbr i know the factory ones if not treated properly or even the slightest slip is 40 odd quid down the pan.
think we need VAS to x-ray them fgor us first as im almost sure the damage is already done on most of them.
there are other wheels. for instance the 16v wheels etc but they dont clear the cam sensor. they are shaped different. i tried it. also the 16v wheel from a kr or 9a/6a is a lot, lot stronger in this area.
Yes i did fit it and the wodruff key didnt fit perfectly imo, after i torqued it up and ran it for a week i had to take it off (not related to pulley wheel) and the soft alloy was slightly damaged so i decided not to use it.
