Running rough

Hi lads. Need some help. Last week the s2 starting runinng rough. Got new spark plugs but when I went to change them i notice loads of oil on 4 of 5 coils. Got the plugs out. There was oil on the middle of the plugs. So the top and bottom of the plugs was clear. Ordered a rocket gasket set and installed. Plugs now seem free from oil. Most of the time Ive start it she still rough. Last 10 starts it's only been running fine about 3.
I'm thinking it's coils. Is the way to check coils?

Could also be the POS too. Are the coil leads in good condition?

Check the condition of the lambda sensor and clean the maf

Yeah coils look good. There was some oil on them put cleaned it up now. What POS? Clean the maf today. No change will look at the lamba tomorrow. Cheers

Also clean the MAF connectors pins been a few cases of them not making good contacts

I'm I right in thinking to test the lamba sensor you disconnect it? How do you test the coils? This is becoming a nightmare!

pull the fault codes first off, could be a million and one things causing it

Lumpy. Like the spark plugs need changing

What do you mean by "pull the fault codes off"?

the ECU logs faults and can help you diagnose running problems. you can use as diode to check the blink codes and get an idea whats not right.

Mine started running rough earlier in the week. Changed the POS and all is fine. It's probably the easiest check to do if you can get hold of a good POS...just plug in and check.
