    VAG-COM 00544 code...

Getting this code come up every week or so....

00544 Maximum Charge Air Pressure Exceeded , anyone had this and wondering if there is a common cause of this as this is what I found could be the cause...

2224 (Blink Fault Code), 00544 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
    Maximum Charge Pressure Exceeded,
Intake air leak after turbocharger, ECU Vacuum/pressure line has leak between intake manifold
Waste gate or pressure hose, Waste Gate Solenoid/hose problem, ECU pressure sensor malfunction
Symptom: Misfire during wide open throttle, boost pressure too high

Basically the car cuts power ( but doesn't cut out ) on WOT but is OK on part throttle, ie no boost

    Any help appreciated...

    Overboost cutout or kangaroo hop

Probably a leak in the intake boost hoses or the small vac hoses (the ones with the cotton braided covering) somewhere, also check the DV (Diverter Valve) where it rubs on the back of the headlight surround, if its the original plastic thing it may have a hole rubbed in it and the hoses to and from the WGFV to the Wastegate.

Also try pulling the MAF connector off and pushing it back on a few times, a high resistance contact can cause the same symptoms (but I think thats normally a mixture adaptation error code instead of max boost..)

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll check the hoses tomorrow as I've changed the DV and N75 to no avail....

        Overboost cutout or kangaroo hop

As soon as it gets to about .5 bar it cuts, bang , and then runs OK again till I try some more WOT...
