    Diagnostics / VAG Com help

Borrowed a cable and software to have a look at the ECU on the car but can't get it to connect. I know the car has been connected on several occasions during my ownership so I want to know what tricks I need to use. Been a bit frustrating so far

I've checked the fuse (21) and have the correct 2x2 connector to use the fuse box connections. Are there a second set of connections in the car on an ABY or can I use other wires? Is there a test proceedure to check the black or white connector?

The interface is being recognised but I can't go any further than that

Any tips? I've been told about ignition off / on to connect. All help gratefully received.

is this a new setup on your laptop?or has it been proved working on another car?more than likely a fault with how you installed it if not

      Hello Rusty,

White line is for Data, black one is for power voltage
Cable use to have a LED to show that power is ok

plug the cable on you PC
plug to the connector on car
turn on ignition on car (no start needed)
      lunch software

could you give us a screenshot of the error pop up ?

is the car a runner? if not the immobiliser could be killing the power to the ecu so vag com would not see it.

Cheers for the tips there. Lead has worked on another car, my computer hasn't. I turned off the anti-virus and firewall to try and help.

The LED on the lead isn't illuminating so that's the first place to look, sounds like it's not getting power.

Car is a runner, no immobiliser that I'm aware of.

You should always get a red light when plugged in, constant power. The black plug is + and -, the + shares the same fuse (S21) as the after run pump.
